As a periodic traveler through O’Hare, I was dismayed to see your call for Congress to force building of new runways (Editorial, April 25). Chicago is great because of its quality of life; ramming more flights through O’Hare will detract from that quality with the current delay problem (mostly due to weather) reappearing in short order.

Instead let’s accept the fact that urban airports in the U.S. have reached their physical capacity and work with other solutions such as congestion pricing, better regional and national planning, and an acceleration of building high-speed train capacity. Another solution would be to build several hub-only airports well outside of large urban areas.
