Norbert O. Berner, 85, of Bensenville died Tuesday, May 22, in Rochelle Community Hospital in Rochelle. The Chicago native joined the Army Air Forces in 1941 and was commissioned a captain with the military police. After the war he was employed with the Federal Housing Administration in Chicago for many years. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Grace; five sons, Dennis, David, James, Thomas and Christopher; two daughters, Sharon Moudry and Laurie; two stepsons, Paul and Peter Broughton; two stepdaughters, Debbie Winters and Barbara Price; two sisters, Madeline Johnston and Eileen Mathis; 23 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in Lyons, Cluts-Simes Funeral Home, 704 N. 6th St., Rochelle. A mass will be said at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 236 Kelly Drive, Rochelle.
