Shane Komine struck out 12 and Nebraska moved within one win of its first College World Series appearance by shutting out Rice 7-0 Friday in the opening game of an NCAA super regional in Lincoln, Neb.

Komine struck out seven of the first nine batters he faced after a 51-minute rain delay. He allowed just three hits in his first complete-game shutout of the season.

John Cole drove in three runs for Nebraska (49-14), which can wrap up the best-of-three series Saturday with another win.

Rain and lightening forced the postponement of the super regional game between Tennessee and East Carolina in Kinston, N.C., and Florida State and Georgia in Athens, Ga.
