I’m a mother of four children.
Fourteen years ago I had a Caesarean section with my second child because she was in a breech (feet-first) position.
I had total trust in my doctor and in Christ Hospital. Everything went great, and I had a beautiful baby girl.
I don’t understand why parents would want to risk their baby’s life by having an at-home birth.
I know that things could go wrong at a hospital.
But I truly believe Spencer Verzi probably would have survived if his mother had had an emergency Caesarean (“Jury says midwife no martyr; Baby, his death were the issues, not home births,” Metro, June 6).
I just hope this is a wakeup call for all future moms. I’m glad Mr. and Mrs. Verzi are having their next baby in a hospital like most parents do.
