I have listened to Jack Brickhouse, Lou Boudreau, Harry Caray, Jim Piersall, Hawk Harrelson and “Wimpy.” I suffered through Harry and Milo. I have listened to Thom and “the Old Third Baseman.” And I listened to Pat Hughes come into his own with Ron Santo. My favorites obviously were Harry Caray and Steve Stone.
However, I feel Chip Caray is going to be great someday. Yes, he is young and enthusiastic, but at least he’s not one of those one-word-a-sentence broadcasters that our current powers that be think baseball announcing should be. Leave Chip alone–he’ll be a good one.
