This is in reference to Mary Schmich’s June 29 column on accidents. She omitted the most important “if only” when theorizing on the tragedy that occurred on Lake Shore Drive–“if only” the driver had not broken the law and gotten high on PCP, this tragedy might never have occurred. To equate this with the tragedy that occurred when an innocent 12-year-old boy was electrocuted because he unwittingly stood in a puddle of water in a garage is absurd.
