It hasn’t taken long for Ichiro Suzuki to become a household name among Mariners fans.
“Popcorn. Cracker Jack. C’mon, Ichiro, swing that bat!”
So go some of the lyrics to the latest bit of Suzuki mania, a hip-hop song recorded by Xola Malik, also known as Kid Sensation, in a single being played on Seattle radio stations and at Mariners home games.
The number was recently remixed by Sir Mix-A-Lot for distribution to retailers in the United States and Japan, where Suzuki was a superstar before signing with the Mariners this season.
Staples Sox?
Thomas Stemberg, chief executive officer for office supplier Staples, has joined a group seeking to buy the Boston Red Sox.
A Staples spokesman says Stemberg, a longtime Red Sox fan, will be lined up with Boston Concessions Group owner Joseph O’Donnell and mall developer Stephen Karp.
