The state’s four legislative leaders on Tuesday completed selection of an eight-member panel charged with the task of redrawing the General Assembly’s district boundaries to reflect population changes in the 2000 census.
Senate President James “Pate” Philip (R-Wood Dale) named Sen. Walter Dudycz (R-Chicago) and Thomas McCracken, chairman of the Regional Transportation Authority and a former lawmaker, to the panel. House Republican leader Lee Daniels of Elmhurst chose Rep. Thomas Cross (R-Oswego) and Elmhurst Mayor Tom Marcucci.
House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) previously named Rep. Barbara Flynn Currie (D-Chicago) and Jorge Ramirez, secretary treasurer of Chicago Local 546 of the United Food and Commercial Workers union.
Senate Democratic leader Emil Jones Jr. selected Sen. Vince Demuzio (D-Carlinville) and former lawmaker and lobbyist Raymond Ewell.
