There were some interesting items on Page 3 of the July 12 Metro section. A man pleads guilty to embezzling $364,000 from DePaul University and is sentenced to seven years in prison. A woman pleads guilty to the fatal hit-and-run of a 15-year-old girl and she receives four years probation.
What I find even more fascinating is the comment by this woman’s attorney that she “is a native of India and still hasn’t assimilated to American ways.” The woman, it seems to me, had assimilated enough to know how to hire a top-notch attorney.
