Another editorial in the July 15 Tribune blasting the planned renovation at Soldier Field without one letter in defense of it. Yes, the saucer-shape stadium is not the best looking a stadium could be.

But if the Bears hinted at tearing down those stupid colonnades at Soldier Field, there would have been even more crying.

Shifting the Bears stadium to north of Comiskey would cost even more.

Where would the money come from?

The public gets a new park where the east parking lot is now.

The Field Museum gets better access and parking.

The veterans get a memorial.

The football fans get a better stadium.

This is called a compromise.

This is doing the best you can with the limitations there are.

It is time for the Tribune to stop its personal crusade or nothing will get done.
