American Airlines is allowing frequent fliers to check in by telephone. The policy applies to passengers who fly more than 25,000 miles a year on American; who have an electronic ticket with a pre-assigned seat for a domestic flight; and who have only carry-on baggage. Eligible passengers can check in as soon as three hours, or as late as 30 minutes, before take-off.
