I agree with Bob Cahill’s “Depressed at Wrigley” letter (Tribune, July 22). While taking the Red Line to Wrigley Field for the recent Cubs/Sox series, I overheard someone saying, “I don’t really care about the game, I would never watch one on TV, I just go because it’s a social event.” This is for one of the biggest series of the year, for which tickets are extremely hard to get, partially because all the fair-weather fans and people going just for a “social event” are out in full swing.

There are plenty of other places in this city to meet people without taking seats away from true fans.
