A burglary suspect in Van Buren, Ark., figured it would be easy posting bond: He’d call his father, tell him where the money was hidden and walk out of jail once he put up $1,000.
He didn’t count on his father calling sheriff’s deputies instead.
Shane Lee Lamb, 19, called his father from the Crawford County Detention Center on July 23, told him there was cash hidden in a tennis racket cover in his room and asked his father to use the money to post 10 percent of his $10,000 bond.
Lamb’s father found the money, about $800, and called authorities instead.
Investigator Aaron Beshears said Lamb and another man took between $1,500 and $2,000 during a burglary at a Mountainburg home July 27.
