Sam Menkin, 89, of Tucson, AZ, passed away on Aug. 29, 2001. He was born on March 21, 1912 in Vail, Iowa. He is predeceased by his parents, Elik and Anna Menkin; and one brother, Irvin Menkin. He is survived by his loving wife, Bernice; two daughters, Marcy (Mark) Versel of Potomac, MD and Judy Menkin of Glenview, IL; four grandchildren, Neil and David Versel, Stephanie and Jaime Perry; one brother, Melvin (Eudice) Menkin; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many other loving family members and friends. Sam was an avid aviator and a lifelong dedicated fan of the Chicago Cubs. He also was recognized for his 14 years of volunteer work with Palo Verde Mental Services. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in his honor to the American Heart Association. Graveside Services will be held on Sunday, Sept. 2 at 10:30 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, Congregation Anshei Israel Section. Arrangements by Evergreen Mortuary.
