Thank you for the Aug. 27 editorial “Beyond the O’Hare rah-rah.” It expressed the opinions of many residents of Elk Grove Village who are embarrassed by the shortsighted, confrontational posture of our village leadership.
Unfortunately this unwillingness to negotiate has likely bungled our chances to participate as a concerned partner in the future development of O’Hare. The childish tact of withdrawing village money from banks with differing views, threatening and bullying the village’s chamber of commerce, and the ridiculous red-shirted shouters and crude foot-stomping antics for the TV cameras have gained nothing but scorn. Whatever happened to the fine art of negotiation resulting from open and reasoned discussion?
