Ralph D. Olson, 60, a pipe fitter with Oak Brook Mechanical Co., died Saturday, Sept. 1, in his Lombard home. A Chicago native, Mr. Olson grew up on the city’s South Side. “He was a good carpenter, too, and built our other home in Wisconsin, near Camp Douglas,” said Mr. Olson’s wife, Judith. Mr. Olson served in the Navy from 1959 to 1963. “He loved the Navy and was proud to have served,” his wife said. Mr. Olson was a member of Pipe Fitters Union Local 597. Other survivors include three daughters, Andrea Ranck, Carolyn and Charlene; his mother, Eva; a brother, Eugene; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 3 until 9 p.m. Wednesday in Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St. Services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday.
