Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
In “Big spenders” (Voice of the people, Aug. 26), Bruce Wheeler unjustly stereotyped all Democrats as tax-and-spend politicians. But, to his credit, he did admit that the money would be ready if we were to forego tax rebates and tax cuts. I, too, feel that paying down the national debt and saving Social Security are goals that we must accomplish. If foregoing a tax cut is the price that we all must pay in order to accomplish this, then so be it. Indeed this sacrifice or belt-tightening is made necessary by our collective borrow-and-spend practices of the past two decades.
The truth of the matter is, the lack of fiscal discipline has no party affiliation.
