Leo E. Rees, 71, a fastener salesman, died of lung cancer Thursday, Aug. 30, in his Streamwood home. Mr. Rees was born in Columbus, Ohio, and raised in a suburb of Detroit. He served in the Navy from 1950 to 1952. Mr. Rees returned to Detroit to manage a gas station for a few years before becoming a fastener salesman and engineer. In 1956 he and his wife, Vivian, moved to California and Mr. Rees worked for fastener companies in Pasadena, Azusa and other towns. The family moved to Streamwood in 1971 and Mr. Rees worked for Fastron in Franklin Park, Mid-Continent Screw Products in Lincolnwood and most recently Elgin Organization in Huntley. “He just loved to work,” his wife said. Mr. Rees is also survived by a son, Glenn; a daughter, Rita Schoppe; a brother, David; a sister, Marjorie Brennan; and four grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Countryside Funeral Home, 950 S. Bartlett Rd., Bartlett. A service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
