Steve Chapman boosted capitalism in his article for Labor Day writing that American workers owe a big debt of gratitude to capitalism (“The real ally of American workers,” Commentary, Sept. 2).
The next day, the Tribune, on the front page, featured two articles, one detailing a large corporation’s secret testing of workers for possible genetic defects and the other dealing with our Latino brothers on strike to improve working conditions and increase wages.
Unions are not perfect but are our only defense against greedy capitalists and non-caring politicians.
