Roland M. “Wex” Wexelberg, 82, formerly of Crystal Lake, IL, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001 in Indianapolis. He was born Aug. 5, 1919 in Racine, WI to Frank and Myrtle, nee Rogerson, Wexelberg. He married Bette Sperling on June 11, 1942 in Chicago. He was president of Home State Bank of Crystal Lake from 1969 to 1981. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He was a Mason, a member of Tebala Shrine and Scottish Rite, Crystal Lake Lion’s Club, Board of Regents (Chicago Chapter) of the American Institute of Banking from 1974 to 1978, and a member and past President of McHenry County Enterprise Club. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Susan W. Kelley; son-in-law, Mark R. Kelley; his grandchildren, Jennifer Rose and Scott Michael Kelley, all of Zionsville, IN; as well as sister-in-law, Frances Wexelberg of Westchester, IL and nephew, Jack Wexelberg of Buffalo Grove, IL. His parents and a brother, John R. Wexelberg preceded him in death. There will be a Memorial Service at the Querhammer Funeral Home (815-459-1760) in Crystal Lake, IL on Oct. 6, 2001. Visitation is at 1 p.m. and Service at 3 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Riley Memorial Association, 50 S. Meridian St., Suite 500, Indianapolis, IN 46204, benefitting Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.
