I would like to take exception to Mayor Richard Daley’s statement in “Days later, storm cleanup continuing; Daley defends rain blocker, says that it’s working” (Metro, Sept. 5). I don’t believe the mayor is justified in defending the rain-blocker system with the statement that without it, more water would have ended up in the basements. No amount of water is acceptable, as the damage and clean-up are extensive regardless of the amount of water and sludge in our basements.
