Mabel A. Carlin, age 101, of Merrillville, IN, passed away Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001. Mabel was a member of St. Andrew Church in Merrillville and a former member of Holy Angels Cathedral in Gary. She was a former member of the Gary Women’s Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter J. Carlin, in 1995 and her son-in-law, Joseph Hostetler, in 1999. Survived by son, Donald (Kathleen) Carlin of Northfield, IL; daughter, Dorothy Hostetler of Merrillville, IN; nine grandchildren, Michael (Julie) Carlin of Wilmette, IL, Karen (James) O’Brien of Evanston, IL, Mark (Paula) Carlin of Chesterfield, VA, Joseph W. Hostetler of Pittsburgh, PA, Nancy (John) Cross of Lakewood, OH, Daniel (Susan) Hostetler of Newburgh, IN, Thomas (Carmen) Hostetler of England, Margaret (David) Gough of Merrillville, IN and Robert (Louise) Hostetler of Corona, CA; 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001, 10:15 a.m. at The Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN, to St. Andrew Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Rev. Terrence R. Chase officiating. Interment Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville.
