Patrick N. Becker, 75, of Mt. Prospect and formerly of Arlington Heights, a food salesman, died after a heart attack Friday, Sept. 7, in his home. Born in Estherville, Iowa, and raised in Boone, Iowa, he graduated from Boone High School. He served in the Navy during World War II. After the service, he returned to Iowa and joined a corn refinery in Cedar Rapids, selling food products to Midwest manufacturers. In 1981, he established Patrick Becker and Co., a Palatine seller of such food ingredients as dried dairy products. “There was never a day he didn’t want to work,” said his daughter, Mary Stallone. “He didn’t do it for the money, but because he loved to do it. He considered many of his customers as friends.” He lived in Arlington Heights from the mid-1960s to the mid-1980s, when he moved to Mt. Prospect. Other survivors include a sister, Kate Mellen, and two grandchildren. Prayers will be said at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday in Lauterburg and Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E.
