Village trustees have approved the purchase of a $134,000 advanced life-support ambulance. The new addition will replace a 10-year-old unit, Fire Chief Michael Raetz said.
Although the board budgeted only $120,000 for the unit, Raetz said, the older ambulance has an estimated value of $6,000 and can be auctioned off.
“Because of prepaying, we’ll receive an 8 percent rebate once the unit is delivered,” Raetz said. “Given the rebate and the money we should get from the sale of the old unit, the total cost should be closer to $120,000.”
Delivery is expected in about six months. The frontline ambulance in Roselle responds to around 2000 incidents per year.
