Color schemes and coffee were the topics of discussion last week as officials with the Naperville Public Libraries continued to move forward with plans for the city’s third library facility.

Architects with Phillips Swager Associates (PSA) met with trustees in search of a concept approval for interior elements of the new building slated for 95th Street on the city’s south side. Armed with a selection of potential wall coverings, flooring and carpeting, they fielded questions and concerns over durability and design.

“We’ve spent a lot of time discussing what the outside of the library will look like and we want to spend just as much time on the inside because to the staff and patrons, that’s really what matters,” said PSA’s Randy Gibson.

Trustees ultimately agreed to a palette of blue hues and earth-tone accents, rich wood tones and modern textures that mimic the “high tech, high touch” theme of the project.

That final design package is a culmination of staff comments and opinions, according to Donna Dzedziec, libraries director.

Parameters were also set for architects in regard to the coffee shop, on the library’s first floor.
