Elwin S. Pilchard, 85, of Bentley Village, Naples, FL, died Aug. 30, 2001. He was born in Greenbackville, VA and lived in Stockton, MD, Wilmington, DE and Glen Ellyn, IL before coming to Naples in 1973. He was employed for 39 years by Hercules Inc. in Wilmington and Chicago. He was a graduate of Beacon College, Wilmington and studied at Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Naples, Moorings Country Club where he served as Director and Treasurer, Naples Community Hospital Auxiliary and Masonic Lodge where he served as President of their Rusty Brothers Club at Bentley Village. He was secretary of The Paint Salesmen’s Club of Chicago. He was an active member of Kiwanis International for over 50 years, and served as president of the Glen Ellyn, IL club and treasurer of the Naples Club. The Naples Club recently named him a Hixon Fellow, the highest honor Kiwanis can bestow. His wife of 44 years, the former Betty Reed of Wilmington, DE, predeceased him in 1985. He is survived by his sister, Lucille Pruitt of Greenbackville, VA; nephews, James and Hal Pruitt of Greenbackville, VA and Bert Pruitt of Girdletree, MD; nieces, Lucein Pruitt of Greenbackville, VA and Joanne Pruitt of Pocomoke City, MD; several grandnieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 23, 3 p.m. at The West Clubhouse at Bently Village. Inurnment will take place in Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington, DE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The First Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 250 Sixth Street South, Naples, FL 34102.
