In an effort to express the horrors of the events of the last few days, it is becoming more common to speak of the actions as acts of “war” against us. By doing this, we are legitimizing the actions of the terrorists. We are making them into soldiers fighting for a cause.
We would do better to refer to the actions as “mass murders” and to approach them from a legal angle. These terrorists are mass murderers who must be sought out and brought to justice. They must be shown to be criminals, not warriors.
