MG Rover has unveiled the car it bought Qvale to build. The MG X80 2+2 coupe, shown at the Frankfort Auto Show, will be launched in summer 2002 in Britain and cost the equivalent of about $72,000. It will have a selection of 4.6-liter V-8 engines, which will produce from 260 to 385 horsepower. Rover says the X80 chassis is an “evolution” of that used by the Qvale Mangusta, a high-end sports car formerly built in Italy and distributed in the U.S. Rover bought the Italian end of the operation in June.
