Edward P. Czachor, 85, of Hendersonville, NC died Sept. 12, 2001 at his residence after an extended illness. A native of Chicago, IL, he lived in the Chicago areas before moving to Hendersonville in 1983. A son of the late Joseph and Mary Czachor, he was also predeceased by a brother, Bruno Czachor. Employed by Cone Blanchard Machine Co. for 27 years before retiring in 1982, he was known for his creativity, inventing working models of metalworking machines, some of which are on display in several museums. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and was a member of the VFW and the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hendersonville. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Marion Bombenger Czachor; a daughter, Ellen (John) Czachor Furby of Houston, TX; a son, Robert (Jane) Czachor of Cincinnati, OH; two stepdaughters, Susan (Mike) Eagan of Lombard, IL and Jayne (Ralph) Wolff of McHenry, IL; a stepson, James J. (Susan) Bombenger of Connelly Springs, NC; five grandchildren, Katherine and John David Furby, Heather and Meghan Eagan, and Jenni Wolff; and two brothers, Fritz (Lorraine) Czachor and Walter Czachor, both of Chicago. A memorial mass will be said at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27, at St. Brunos Roman Catholic Church with Father Joseph Grembla officiating. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
