Claire Ann De Mooy, nee Plantinga, age 82, of Harbert, MI, formerly of Western Springs, IL, died Friday, September 14, 2001 in MI. Wife of Adrian De Mooy, whom she married July 2, 1943, in Oak Park; mother of Diane VanderPol, Adrienne (Michael) Sremba, and Adele (Michael Leventhal) De Mooy; grandmother of Jonathon Vanderpol, Matthew, Angela and Kristin Sremba; daughter of the late Peter and Anje (nee Van Denend) Plantinga; sister of the late Herbert Plantinga; aunt to many nieces, nephews and their families. Born December 11, 1918 in Veendam, the Netherlands. Earned her Master’s Degree in English from Northwestern University and her Master’s in Library Science from Dominican University. River Forest Public Schools Teacher and Librarian before retiring. Funeral services 11 a.m. EDT, Wednesday, September 19 at Harbert Community Church, Harbert, MI. Graveside service 11 a.m. CDT Thursday, September 20 at Forest Home Cemetery in Forest Park IL. Visitation 5 until 8 p.m. EDT, Tuesday, September 18 at Pobocik Funeral Home, Three Oaks, MI.
