Volkswagen has named ousted BMW chief Bernd Pischetsrieder as it new chief executive, effective April 17. He replaces Ferdinand Piech, 64, who declined to extend his contract with VW after eight years. Pischetsrieder has been with VW since July 2000, after he was forced out of BMW over a costly, failed bid to turn around British carmaker Rover.
