Former Florida player Teddy Dupay shared in winnings his friend received from a bookmaker after Dupay gave the friend inside information about whether the Gators could cover point spreads, a sworn complaint alleges.

Dupay, who was dismissed from the team last week, is listed as an uncharged co-defendant in a complaint filed against Kresten Lagerman, 23, a finance major who graduated from Florida in May.

The complaint, filed by the universitypolice department, charges Lagerman with tampering with a witness, victim or informant, and unlawful betting.

It says Dupay provided Lagerman with information that could help him determine how Florida would do against the point spread.

The report states Lagerman placed bets on professional and college basketball games, including Florida games, and shared his winnings with Dupay.

Florida endured an injury-filled season in 2000-01 and there were several instances in which players returned from injuries sooner than expected.

– Valparaiso athletic director Bill Steinbrecher said the NCAA is investigating the amateur status of players Lubos Barton, a Czech Republic native, and Antti Nikkila, who is from Finland.

Steinbrecher said he’s confident Valparaiso has followed NCAA guidelines when recruiting foreign players, including Barton, a senior forward, and Nikkila, a junior center.

The NCAA is investigating foreign athletes who might have received money for playing basketball in their native countries, or who may have violated their amateur status by knowingly playing alongside a professional.
