Shame on James Warren for writing a column criticizing President Bush’s speech. Thousands of people lost their lives in this tragedy. There are families and friends who still do not know if their loved ones are alive. Firefighters, police and rescue teams are risking their lives to recover the dead, and will continue to do so for weeks. Millions of people will be forever affected.
But somehow Warren found it relevant that President Bush is not the orator that Lyndon Johnson was. Or that Bush seemed self-conscious, that he is not a professional speaker. In light of the events of Sept. 11, this opinion of the president’s syntax and public-speaking abilities seems trivial and petty.
