Tuesday’s incident shook my very soul. As my eyes were fixated on the television screen in front of me, I held my two daughters tightly, as I thought it was the end of the world.
As I left my home to take my daughter to her preschool, angry and vengeful eyes were staring at me from every direction. I then realized what was happening–guilt by association.
I wanted to get on a loud speaker and shout out: I, too, am angry and scared. My whole body was shaking. This isn’t fair, I thought. I’m on your side. Whoever is responsible for this disaster did not only terrorize Christian America. These people terrorized all of America–Muslim, Jewish and Christian.
It is time we all unite against terrorism of all sorts. Targeting Muslim- and Arab-Americans only increases tensions and animosity. We should come together in honor of all the individuals who have lost their lives and seek justice. Only then will justice prevail.
