After the initial shock, I felt that the terrorist attacks would not deter me from future air travel. But the current and proposed changes to the way air travel is conducted will deter me from flying commercial airlines.

I do not see the benefit in digging through the carry-on baggage of all passengers, taking away the choice to carry my Swiss army knife (with the puny blade that could only pose a threat to an orange), or giving up the choice to carry on my laptop, tools and duffel bag instead of checking luggage.

A major reason I choose to fly for business is the speed and convenience of air travel without checked luggage, by carrying what I need for a short trip on my person. Lose that speed and airlines will lose my business. I will choose not to fly, not for fear of terrorists but as a direct result of overreaction to this threat.
