William A. Torok, 89, a longtime Chicago lawyer and businessman, died Friday, Sept. 14, of a heart attack in his home in Olympia Fields. Mr. Torok was passionate about his work, his family and life. “He was not afraid to take risks,” said his daughter, Dr. Cheryl Torok. Mr. Torok was president of a law firm that carried his name and of Butterfield Construction Co., which built many homes in the Dolton area. Mr. Torok grew up in Chicago, attended John Marshall Law School and married Aldona Peters–with whom he loved to dance and entertain friends, said his daughter. Mr. Torok also was passionate about the Chicago area and giving back to the community. “He was the kind of guy who would donate to charities but not want people to know,” she said. Survivors also include two brothers, Al and Frank; and a sister, Marge. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Rosemoor Funeral Home, 17943 S. Torrence Ave., Lansing. A mass will be said at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in Infant Jesus of Prague Church, 1131 Douglas Ave., Flossmoor.
