I have been reading and listening in dismay this past week as some of our fellow citizens and leaders begin the blame game for the terrorist attacks on our country.

These little comments tend to blame past leaders for what happened.

These are not productive and do not provide the answers we need to ensure that those who wish us harm are made to realize the huge mistake they just made.

When you get down to it, what happened on Sept. 11 was all of our faults.

It wasn’t just past leaders.

It wasn’t just other religions or ethnic groups.

It was all of us, plain and simple.

We did not want to put up with having to wait in line for security checks.

We did not want to have to have a wand passed over us if by chance the metal detector’s sensitivity level was set too high. After all, this would cause us to be late for our flight. After all, terror was the problem of foreign countries. It just didn’t happen in the U.S.

Well, it has.

And if we don’t want it to happen again, we cannot allow ourselves to continue with finding blame. Let’s figure out what we need to do–and do it!
