Irene S. Mosby, age 74, of Rockford, IL, died 4:36 p.m., Monday, September 17, 2001, in Swedish American Hospital. Born June 17, 1927, in Chicago, IL, to John and Margaret, nee Haaning, Toft. Lived the past six years in Rockford, coming here from the Northwest Suburbs. Married to Gordon W. Mosby in Chicago on January 28, 1949. Employed at North West Community Hospital in the newborn nursery department. Member of the Arlington Heights Evangelical Free Church where she and her husband raised their family. Became a member of First Evangelical Free Church in Rockford, IL. Survived by her husband Gordon of Rockford; two sons, Daniel G. (Terri) of Charlotte, NC, and John B. (Anna) Mosby, presently serving as a missionary in Niarboi, Kenya; four daughters, Nancy (William) Mercurio of Machesney Park, IL, Joanne (Richard) Olsen of Palatine, IL, Wendy (David) Nellis, also serving as a missionary in Oaxaca, Oaxaca, Mexico, Elizabeth (Thomas) Munneerlyn of Tomball, TX; 18 grandchildren; preceded by her parents and two brothers that served in WWII, Carl and Harry Toft. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2001, in First Evangelical Free Church, 2223 N. Mulford Rd., Rockford, with the Rev. Dr. Ted Olsen, officiating. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Honquest Family Funeral Home, North Mulford Chapel, 4205 N. Mulford Rd., Rockford.
