Albert Weinberg, 86, a real estate attorney in Chicago for 60 years, died of cardiac arrest Tuesday, Sept. 18, in Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Mr. Weinberg was the youngest of seven children born to a working-class family of Russian immigrants. After graduating from Marshall High School, he attended DePaul College of Law, working days at the post office to fund his evening law classes. He graduated in the early 1940s, when he also married his wife, Tybal, whom he met through friends. At their 60th anniversary party last year, he sang to her the song “You’re Getting to Be a Habit with Me.” During World War II, Mr. Weinberg served as a staff sergeant in the South Pacific in the Army Air Forces. Mr. Weinberg maintained his Chicago law practice until his death. He was active with Veterans of Foreign Wars and Jewish War Veterans. In 1959, while serving as president of the Albany Park Hebrew Congregation, he hosted Eleanor Roosevelt in his home after her speech at the synagogue. “He was very proud of that,” said his son Marshall. In addition to his wife and son, Mr. Weinberg is survived by daughters Sulie Cohn-Grayson and Shari Weinberg; and nine grandchildren. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Friday in Weinstein Family Services Wilmette Chapel, 111 Skokie Blvd., Wilmette.
