Ella A. Wolter, 91, of Des Plaines, a retired office clerk, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, in Holy Family Medical Center in Des Plaines. She was born in Norwood Park Township and raised on a farm. She graduated from Luther Institute in Chicago. She was an office clerk for American Excelsior Co., a manufacturer of packaging products in Chicago. She married in 1937 and within a few years stopped working to raise her family. In the late 1950s, she worked in the office at General Telephone Co. in Des Plaines. She retired in the 1970s. “She was very organized and independent,” said her daughter, Mary Lou Hess. Other survivors include a sister, Rose Berry; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 855 Lee St., Des Plaines.
