John A. Lazarz, 79, of Des Plaines, a retired auto mechanic, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, in Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Born in Chicago, Mr. Lazarz graduated from Tuley High School there. He served in the Army during World War II. Following his military service, Mr. Lazarz returned to Chicago and was married in 1945. After living in the South, Mr. Lazarz returned to Chicago with his family in the early 1960s and settled in Des Plaines. He worked more than 20 years as a mechanic and parts salesman for Sears Automotive in the Golf Mill Shopping Center in Niles. He retired in 1983. “Our children and neighbors never had to worry about their cars,” said his wife, Frances. Other survivors include two daughters, Pamela Kranz and Mary O’Malley; a son, John; and four grandchildren. A mass will be said at 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 9711 W. Devon Ave., Rosemont.
