Mary Lou Bromwell, known as “ML” to friends and acquaintances, died Sept. 19, 2001 in her home in Lake Forest, IL. Born in New York and raised in Connecticut, she moved to Chicago after her marriage in 1960. She had a long association with the Allendale School, a residential treatment facility for learning disabled children in Lake Villa, IL. “ML” served two terms as President of its Shelter Club and as a member of its Board of Trustees. She is survived by her husband, M. Scott Bromwell Jr.; a son, Matthew S. Bromwell III; a daughter, Summers B. Moore; and four grandchildren. She also leaves a brother, Dennis Anderson of New York City. A Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27 at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Allendale School in Lake Villa, IL.
