In the wake of the horrible tragedy in the United States, I have witnessed what I thought I would never see in my lifetime.

In a world that has been so corrupted and desensitized, we have witnessed many true acts of heroism, courage and patriotism.

As we see all religious, racial and political groups come together in this time of mourning, it reminds us of the things that are really important to us all. I, as a high school senior, have never seen “God” mentioned on television, in schools and in the newspapers as I have these past few days.

It is encouraging to me to see the American people coming together as one, bonding in this time of mourning and asking God for help.

Now the question is, will we, as a nation, be able to continue this oneness that we have acquired in this time of tragedy?

I’m proud of how the American people have responded to this devastating situation.

It is my hope that the people of the United States will continue to be united and work for the good of all.
