Dimitrios “Jim” E. Niforos, 82, of Oswego, passed away Friday, September 21st, at Meadowbrook Manor, Naperville. He was born October 18, 1918, in Kalamos Island, Greece. He was a member of Cephellonian Society of Chicago. Mr. Niforos fought with the Greek resistance against Italy and Germany and served in the Greek Navy during WWII. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Vasilika Niforos, Oswego, IL; beloved father of five: Helen Niforos of Oswego, IL, Theodore (Maria) Niforos of Schaumburg, Spyridoula (Michael) Girard of Morton Grove, Evangelos (Tamara) Niforos, Chicago & Panagiota (Sheldon) Wheaton, Geneva, IL; grandfather of eight; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by one son George D. Niforos; four brothers: Theodore, Nick, Spiro & Pete; and his parents Evangelos & Eleni (Zavitsanos) Niforos. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 23, 2001 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway (Route 25) Montgomery, IL, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 24, 2001 at 9:00 a.m. from the Dieterle Memorial Home to St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church, 1855 E. Fifth St. Aurora, IL at 10 a.m. Fr. Chris Constantinides will officiate with interment in Elmwood Cemetery, River Grove, IL. 630-897-1196
