Evelyn May Duensing, of Paradise Valley, passed away Sept. 20, 2001. Evie was dearly loved by her family and friends, and she will be remembered for her gentle and kind heart, devotion to family and to helping others. Born in Chicago, Evie took pride in her Chicago roots and Dutch heritage and pleasure in being a wife, mother and writer. She was an active member of Scottsdale Healthcare’s Board and a member of P.E.O. Evie is survived by her son, David Duensing of Phoenix; her daughters and sons-in-law, Gail (Bob) Kaufman and Diane (Tom) Tierney of Scottsdale; her six granddaughters gave her great joy, Katie (Tagan) Dering, Molly and Anne Kaufman, Taylor, Tessa and Lily Tierney. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, David L. Duensing, former CEO of Armour-Dial; and her parents, Abraham and Jansje DeGroot, originally of Holland. A Memorial Service was held in Paradise Valley on Sept. 25.
