Douglas Edwin Talbot, formerly of Arlington Heights, IL, died Tuesday, September 11, 2001 in his Eagle-Vail, CO home. He was 69. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, September 30 in the Iron Kettle Conference Room, at Wilmot Mountain Ski Resort, Wilmot, WI. A reception will immediately follow the service. Talbot was born in Joliet, IL on December 8, 1931. His parent were Dr. Joseph D. and Kathleen M., nee Casey, Talbot. After graduating from Joliet Catholic H.S., he earned a business degree from the University of Notre Dame. He then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps., serving as an Infantry Officer at Camp Pendleton, CA and Paris Island, NC. After receiving an honorable discharge, Doug started his own sales business specializing in medical supply packaging. He enjoyed sports and especially loved biking, golf and skiing. As a ski instructor, Doug took great pride in teaching others his sport. He belonged to the National Ski Patrol and was the Patrol Director of the Wilmot Mountain Ski Patrol. After retiring, Doug moved to the Vail area where he participated in the Community Guest Services on Vail Mountain. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, James Douglas Talbot, who died in 1992; one daughter, Nicole Marie Talbot, who died in infancy; and a brother, Joseph D. Talbot II who also died as an infant. Doug is survived by his wife Kathleen, of Eagle-Vail and four children, including: Thomas (Susan) Talbot of Vail, CO, Nannette (Peter) Meyer of Schaumburg, IL; Jacqueline (Thomas) Levitch of Denver, CO and Joseph David Talbot, also of Vail, CO. He is also survived by one brother, Dr. Richard (Sharon) Talbot of Joliet, IL and five grandchildren: Sarah Elizabeth Meyer, Collin Robert Levitch and Anna Marie, Kathleen Louise and Nellie Rose Talbot.
