Through all of the devastation of buildings and the weeping for America for the thousands of lives lost, there is an incredible irony: It is only because of our freedoms that the terrorists were able to carry out their devastation.
They planned and executed their act because they could travel without restrictions; they could use credit cards, banks, and telephones without harassment by government officials; they were able to move across dozens of borders and state lines without security checkpoints all along the way.
Isn’t it ironic indeed that the very country that allowed them this complete freedom was the object of their rage and hate? Did this ever occur to them?
I shall never understand this kind of warped mind.
