I don’t want Osama bin Laden to die. I want him to live a long life in which he sees his every objective thwarted. I want him to see his twisted and bigoted version of Islam cast into the dustbin of history, while the mainstream of civilized and peaceful Islam prospers in the modern world.
I want him to see Israel thriving and at peace with its Muslim neighbors. I want him to see terrorism totally discredited as a way to change society. I want him to see terrorists of every stripe hunted down relentlessly. I want him to see democratic capitalism triumphant and prosperous throughout the world.
And I want him to live to realize that his own overreaching and provocation helped achieve all this.
