John P. O’Neill, age 49 of New York City NY passed away on September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center New York City NY. He was born in Ventnor City, NJ. He was the head of security for World Trade Center, New York City, NY. John started his successful career in the FBI in 1970 and dedicated 31 years of his life to serving his country. His career began in Washington and continued through Baltimore, Washington, Chicago and New York. John received many distinguished honors and awards for his tireless efforts to protect Americans. He played a pivotal role in the investigations of the World Trade Center bombing, the Oklahoma City Bombing, TWA flight 800, the US Embassy bombings in Africa and the bombing of the U.S.S. Cole. He retired from the New York office and took the position of Head of Security for the World Trade Center. John is remembered as a person who always wanted to help people regardless of the task. Many have described him as a hero and a patriot. His life tragically ended after re-entering the World Trade Center to attempt to save the lives of others. He is survived by his loving family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2001 at the St. Nicholas-Tolentine RC Church, Tennessee & Pacific Avenues, Atlantic City, NJ 08401. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will be at the Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing, NJ.
