John W. Christian, age 78, of Madison, CT, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001 at the Gladeview Health Care Center in Old Saybrook, CT. He is the beloved husband of Patricia, nee Wallace, Christian and was predeceased by his first wife Doris, nee Helmstedter, Christian; and a brother David Christian; born Feb. 15, 1923 in Kansas City, MO, he is the son of the late John W. and Mary Ellen, nee Lee, Christian. Mr. Christian was a graduate of Northwestern University in 1948 and was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was an employee of G.D. Searle Laboratories in Skokie, IL from 1950 to 1982. His Searle positions included Market Research Associate and Manager of Manufacturing Operations. In 1975, he was instrumental in establishing the Metamucil operations in Phoenix, AZ, and became General Manager. Besides his wife he is survived by a son John W. Christian of Libertyville, IL, a daughter Linda Christian Curran of Tucson, AZ and stepchildren William L. Wallace of Wallingford, CT, Donna Wallace Thomasson of Madison; two grandchildren, John W. and James E. Christian both of Libertyville, IL and three stepgrandchildren, J. Bradford, Rebecca J. and Katherine A. Thomasson all of Madison, CT. Friends and family may call at the BurnettDane Funeral Home, 120 West Park Ave., Libertyville, IL, Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at the First Presbyterian Church in Libertyville, IL at 12 noon. The burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Skokie, IL. Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimer’s Association Research, 919 N.
